Rapé is a mixture of medicinal herbs processed in a certain way - hand-grated, dried or burned. There are many techniques, but only the bearers of Amazonian tribal traditions know about them. The main feature is the powerful effect on the spirit and body on several levels at once. A mixture of medicinal plants is a tool for self-discovery - the search for the "True Self". Making Rapé is a manual labor: collecting certain parts of plants, preparing and mixing them in the right proportions. The composition of shamanic mixtures of plants is unique, each variety has its own power and effect. But all varieties have one thing in common - the ability to heal both the physical body and the human spirit - first and foremost.

Rape is used by shamans to maintain strength of mind, health and the ability to lead a harmonious life. In the traditions of indigenous tribes, the compound is used for a variety of purposes, from curing illnesses of any severity to predicting the weather and the future. It is not just a tradition or a primitive fashion statement, but a sacred ritual - a true ceremony, even if the reception takes place alone.

An instrument of shamanic sacred medicine, Rapé is blown into the nose through a tube made of bamboo, wood or bone. While taking the medicine, be calm but receptive and hold your breath.
For a couples ceremony, a type of pipe that requires the assistance of a partner is used. The person holds the tube with their hands and blows the rapé powder into each nostril of the receiving partner with force. In Brazil, such a tube for two people is called Tepi.

If you don't have a friend or know a shaman who can perform the ceremony for you, don't worry, you can perform it yourself using a second type of pipe called a kuripi. A kuripi is a small V-shaped pipe that connects your mouth to your nostril (our store selection of kuripi is made of different types of wood). While it is somewhat more difficult to use Rapé on your own than in a couples ceremony, trying to do it with someone without the necessary knowledge is an even less appealing venture. That's why it's always a good idea to have your own kuripi and learn how to perform the ceremonies yourself.

Absolutely do not make paths of Rapé and sniff it from a smooth flat surface with a rolled up banknote or straw. This is a serious oversight that can lead to undesirable effects.

The setting of the Rapé ritual. Preparation.

Since the Rapé ceremony is a kind of meditation, it must be entered into properly. The setting and preparation are crucial.
The best place for the ceremony is in nature and fresh air, a quiet room with good energy where high vibration music is playing.
It is recommended to avoid taking Rapé in ordinary and everyday situations.
For example, while waiting after hailing a cab, in a restaurant, busy or industrial areas, in public places, or where you may be interrupted by someone who has no idea what you are doing or what it means.
Ideal preparation allows you to fully experience the cleansing effects and the full range of Rapé's action without unwanted distractions, and gives you the necessary space for quiet reflection.

In addition, depending on the herbs used in the Rapé blend, you may experience a wide range of sensations after taking Rapé, from emotional highs to deep trance.

Here are some topical tips for preparing your space - and yourself - for a comfortable ceremony:

- It's not a bad idea to have a water bottle nearby, as well as tissues and/or a roll of toilet paper.
- If you think you will be thirsty, drink water BEFORE you make your Rapé, not during its effects.
- Do not eat immediately before consuming Rapé because it may all come out right after the ceremony. It is recommended to take the time and eat at least an hour or two before your session.
- Just in case, make sure you have an easily accessible place to vomit.
- Also make sure you have a bathroom available in case you have a sudden need to relieve yourself.
- Make sure your friends know what you are doing (so that no one interrupts your moment of deep reflection, avoid external stimuli).
